Windows 10 for PC also include the feature, but it was only available when modifying a specific key in the registry. Beginning with Windows 10 build 14316 and later versions, Microsoft is making super easy to use the dark theme by adding a new option in the Settings app. In this guide, I’ll show you the steps to switch from the light to the dark mode on Windows 10 — just remember that at the time of the writing, the feature is only available on the Windows 10 Insider Preview build 14316 and later.
How to switch to the darker color mode on Windows 10
When you enable the dark mode, you will notice that apps, including Settings, Store, Calculator, Alarms & Clock, and other Universal Windows apps will also change to the darker color scheme. However, some applications have their own control, such as Microsoft Edge and Groove Music, these and other apps won’t change colors when turn on the dark mode.
If you want certain apps to use the dark color theme, you need to go to the settings page for that particular apps and switch the mode manually. In addition, Microsoft is also adding a new “Show color on title bar” option in the Colors page to only show colors on the app title bars. Which mode do you like better the Dark or Light mode?
