Playing all the same songs year-after-year can make the holidays a little bit annoying, and it shouldn’t be that way, you already have enough with all the family drama. So to spice things up a little, how about creating a brand new playlist, all with great free music, mixing good old classics and new songs for this Christmas, and once you’re done, to share them with your family and friends via Spotify message or from Facebook, Twitter and Messenger? — your choice.
Creating a new Spotify music playlist
First if you don’t have Spotify in your machine, you should read this previous article, Review: Spotify US – Compare services, learn player keyboard shortcuts, and more. Just note that this online music stream does NOT require an invite to sign-up anymore.
While in Spotify click New Playlist at the bottom on the left-hand pane. You can also use the shortcut Ctrl+N or by navigating the File menu and selecting New Playlist.
Make sure that you use a descriptive playlist name.
Now is the time to search for music. In the search box, just type the keyword for the type of music you would like to add to the new playlist and then press Enter. If your Spotify account is already linked to, let’s say, Facebook, you may want to use the Private Session feature that way you don’t post a new status update of what you are doing in the service. You can do this in two ways: go to the File menu and click Private Session or by clicking your name in the right-hand corner of the application and clicking Private Session.
Adding those new songs. Now just drag & drop the songs you like from the search result to your recently created playlist, in this case my mix is called Christmas. Alternatively you can right-click the song, navigate Add to and click the playlist you want to add the song.
Now you are done creating your Christmas playlist.
